Maas is the largest theater and dance production company for children, youth, and young adults in the Netherlands, and has its own theater in Delfshaven, Rotterdam: Maaspodium.
From our home base in Rotterdam, we create bold youth theater in all possible forms and for all conceivable ages. What our artists share is creating physical work for a young audience, often without language, and choosing personalities on stage instead of characters. These productions tour across Rotterdam, the country, and the world.
We work towards an equal world where every child has the opportunity to play, imagine, and create. With our artistic mentality, we use theater and dance to encourage children, youth, and young adults to stay true to their hearts.
The city of Rotterdam is an important source of inspiration, where you can experience how differences between people and perspectives are a strength. While the theater can respond directly to current events — with the straightforward, no-nonsense Rotterdam approach — the production company’s longer-term vision provides room for reflection, (self-)examination, and interpretation. In this way, a wide range of stories becomes accessible to a large audience across the country and beyond.
The theater in Rotterdam is located in Delfshaven and usually has programming from september till july. There are also possibilities for children and young adults to participate without costs in Maas projects, also when they don’t speak Dutch.
